Simon celebrated his 30th birthday a few days ago, so I decided to treat him to his favorite raw vegan snack of all times: a special Banana Almond Butter Shake – also known as “The Wolverine”. This shake tastes like soft serve ice cream, sweet cookie dough & superfood chocolate all blended together into one creamy dessert! It is very rich in protein and super easy to prepare. Next time you crave something sweet & creamy, treat yourself to this Banana Almond Butter Shake. You won’t regret it!
Superfood Banana Almond Butter Shake
SERVES: 1 person (1 ½ large glasses)
EQUIPMENT: blender
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of coconut milk (or almond milk, hemp milk…)
½ cup of water
1 large frozen banana
1 small date, pitted and roughly chopped
1 ½ tablespoon of almond butter
2 teaspoons of Maca
2 teaspoons of cacao nibs
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract (or ¼ teaspoon of vanilla powder)
2 large pinches of Himalayan Crystal salt or sea salt
DIRECTIONS:
Combine coconut milk, water, banana, date, almond butter, Maca, cacao nibs, vanilla extract and salt in a blender. Blend until smooth.
JULIE’S TIPS & TRICKS:
- This shake will stay fresh for at least 2 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Garnish this superfood shake with toppings of your choice, such as cacao nibs, popped buckwheat, goji berries, mulberries, crushed almonds, raw chocolate shavings…
- Are you trying to avoid cacao? You can always leave it out or replace it with 1 teaspoon of carob powder.
